Is Your Dog Suffering from Anxiety?
A talk by Nicky Crowe Dog Behaviourist at Chilled Out Dogs.
Ever said the words: “I wish my dog could tell me what is wrong?”
In this talk Nicky Crowe, Dog Behaviourist and Therapist and Founder of Chilled Out Dogs will give dog parents insight into dog anxiety and how to have a chilled out dog.
Dog behavioural issues are often misunderstood by their human parents and treated incorrectly with “obedience” type training methods.
But what if your dog is trying to tell you something with their anxiety:
- the destructive behaviours
- the chronic barking
- obsessive/compulsive displays
- the panic
- the sorrowful eyes
Nicky will talk about separation anxiety, pack separation anxiety, generalised anxiety and how to help your dog with the latest advancements in training as well as natural therapies.
“It is in my experience as a Dog Behaviourist, Dog Therapist and Animal Communicator that dogs have a lot to say about their humans’ emotions, stress and the environment in which they live. Sometimes, the dogs’ behaviour issues help point out to their humans what needs to change. Changes that help the human as much as the dog…
Once we as humans understand our dogs as emotional animals, in many ways very similar to us on the emotional spectrum, we can start to help them with appropriate and sensitive behaviour training and communication.” Nicky Crowe
A majority of her clients come to Nicky after having seen a number of dog trainers, behaviourists and been to puppy and dog obedience classes in the past. But who have been unsuccessful in solving their dogs’ emotional distress.
Dog anxiety is a common problem that many human parents are trying to help them with but sometimes the resources on the internet or through conventional training methods actually make things worse for their dog.
Nicky’s training includes assessing the human-dog relationship, how to communicate with your anxious dog and the emotional environment in which both humans and dogs live.
Areas of interest that will be discussed:
- The emotional dog
- Separation anxiety, generalised anxiety, noise phobias, fears, aggression etc.
- The Dog-Human dynamic
- Sensitive treatment for dog anxiety
- How to communicate with your dog
- Transpersonal psychology and your dog
- The science behind dog anxiety
- Practical methods to treat anxiety
This talk is for dog parents, dog walkers, people who work with dogs and those who have dogs in their care.
Even if you have a chilled out dog already, you will gain insight into what your dog is feeling during times of transition or stress and how to deepen your bond even more.
“Dogs are amazing and I want to spread the love and joy of having a chilled out, happy dog in your family.”
